| Abstract | Annual teosinte (Zea mays ssp. mexicana (Schrader) Iltis) is found to be widespread weed of maize fields in the Valley of Toluca, Mexico, between 2500 and 2750 m on an area of approximately 2000 km(2). It is probably the result of introduction. The Toluca teosinte population is significant for germplasm conservation reasons, the distribution area of Chalco teosinte is shrinking, and because it grows at high altitudes. |
